stupid microsoft word !@!@#!#@

word is really pissing me off
i've spent 2 hours trying to type up this paper and it keeps trying to autoformat my text. It indents here, bolds there and when i try to backspace or unbold, it just moves my text to the previous line or just does something really stupid.
Is there any way to turn this crap off? I'm about to install word perfect because of this.

its in the options menu.. look around you will find it.

turn your insert off that usually solves most of Word's hangups....

Just go to Tools->AutoCorrect and uncheck everything in sight on all tabs.

personally i feel that traditional pen and paper are much better than word.
