OK, thats a long title, but well I had a problem with the comp and I did some stuff, like reset cmos and afterwards windows said Digital signature not found, and well I gotta install the keyboard and mouse. I cant use it without the drivers. How am I supposed to install the sh*t without using the keyboard or mouse. I bet it's so easy, but it pisses me off, I cant figure it out. How am I supposed to do this? It is really pissing me off, is microsoft just this damn stupid.

ummm...is it a usb mouse and keyboard? cause if it is you most likely need to have a ps2 version handy to do the dirty work with until you get the usb stuff up and running

You might just have to install Windows over the existing installation. I'm fairly sure that will fix any problems.

re-installing windows sure seems a little extreme for a problem like this

but if you do decide to do it, remember that installing windows over itself will cause you to have a new registry, and therefore you'll have to re-install all your programs.

I had a similar problem with an HP I set up a few weeks ago. We had to use a PS2 mouse and keyboard to be able to install the drivers for his USB keyboard and mouse. The keyboard was the key. It acts like a USB hub and has all the bells and whistles for internet and CD controls.

Have you tried a PS2 keyboard as well as the mouse. Keep the USB connected while you do this.

If memory serves me we had to install the drivers in safe mode as well. I actually had to boot from a boot disk. Copy the drivers over to a folder on the C: then boot in safe mode to install the correct drivers.

You didnt answer if the mouse works in safe mode or not.

No sh!t. Let's wrap that up in an e-mail to Gaytes.

But anyway, what OS is it? B/c I use a Logitech USB cordless kboard/mouse combo on my Win2k machine. It was recognized by BIOS on bootup on my FIC mobo.

This is false.

When reinstalling Windows on top of itself, you'll keep the current registry. I used to reinstall Win95 and Win98 every 1-2 months on top of itself and had never to reinstall any programs.

It does not work in safe mode. I tried everything I could think of. I only have this keyboard also. I think reinstalling windows is the only solution I guess. Thanks for your help everyone, least I know I dont have to format, even though this is a real pain in the ass.

It sounds like your BIOS has been set to an option where legacy USB devices are not supported. Look for an option in the BIOS about USB legacy support and set it to auto.

This problem is not that bad... you just need to get a $5 standard keyboard and mouse and get into windows.

this problem is not MS fault, it's your fault for resetting computer bios... how the hell is the OS supposed to cope with on the fly bios changes?

In my MB's Bios(Epox 8K7A) you have to turn on USB mouse and keyboard support. Maybe that's your problem?
