Stupid Logitech Mouse software stays in my taskbar

I have Logitech Mouseware v9.80. It's always in the taskbar at startup. I uncheck "Show icon in the taskbar" but sure enough when I reboot it's right back there again. What do I do to permanently make it go away?
 
No, it's not your fault. The latest version of the software has a bug in it where it keeps coming back, and you can't get rid of it unless you either disable the software (what's the point of installing it then?) or downgrade the version. You can get previous versions on Logitech's FTP site. I installed the software and eventually downgraded because I got sick of the icon every time I rebooted, and by downgrading I didn't lose any features, at least nothing I noticed.
