stupid invisible fence

I have been putting in an invisible fence. Needless to say, my 1 acre yard is very rocky, making it extremely difficult to dig the trench w/ a shovel. To make matters worse, I have to go across my gravel driveway.

That being said, is there anyone that has put one in that can offer an easier way to dig the trench, besides a shovel (I tried one of those manual edgers too, it doesn't work well)?

I cheated and put mine in pcv then just left the pvc on top of the ground.

There is a tool that i think you can rent from home depot called a ditch-witch, it is basically a big slow chainsaw for digging narrow trenches. i have never gotten to play with one, but i want to.

My dad used one to dig the trenches for our sprinkler system. It'll work, for a small trench, or 3 or 4 feet if needed. It's probably overkill for laying wires.

When you say

do you mean some sort of gas-powered machine? If not, then you should know that there are gas powered edgers that work wonders for burying invisible fences, even in rocky yards like mine. Thats what I used - I rented it for $30 for a half day.
