Stupid fridge...

The Kenmore fridge I had in my dorm worked perfectly last year. I went home for the summer and left it with a friend during that time. I come back, and everything looks and seems fine, but it's just not working very well anymore. Even on the absolute coldest setting, it keeps things *barely* chilled, and the milk went bad. Everything looks normal, and the door appears to be sealing, it's a few inches away from the wall, so we can't figure out what's wrong. Anything obvious we're missing, since we both know dick about fridges?

Friend just theorized that it's because we didnt let it sit for long enough. Explanation: It moved around a lot from place to car to place to car to place, and then we just plugged it right in. She said it will never get cold that way, that once it moves around a lot you have to let it sit unplugged for a few days before plugging it in, something about the chemicals settling. Anyone verify this?

Your friend doesn't know what she is talking about. Tell her to work on stocking it with groceries when you get it fixed.

actually it wouldnt be a bad idea to let it sit for a few hours to let the refrigerant and the oil in the compressor seperat from all the shaking around.. after that check the condenser coil and ensure there is no furrball build up on it.. after that call afrigerator repairman to check for leak and fix or fill

Not that anyone cares, but we fixed it. I don't think the light bulb inside was turning off, ever since we took that out it's been nice and cold 🙂 Thanks again for the helpful link.

I have a fridge at my apt that at times emits a bad smelling odor (you can really smell it in the summer). At first I thought it was the inside so my bro and I cleaned out the inside and we have baking soda in there too..but the smell was still there. So we thought it was someting behind the fridge and we cleaned/washed that area/floor but the smell was still there. So now I'm thinking it has to do something with the motor (compressor) being moldy or what not. Anyone else with the same odor problem?
