Stupid Daylight savings time...it's dark outside and only 5:30PM

It's only 5:30 and it's dark as heck outside (Bronx, NYC.) Today is the first day that I am leaving work at night (I leave at 6 daily) since winter ended earlier this year. :(

I used to hate the sun, but ever since I started working again (and gained a small social life) I can't help but to feel depressed at the early nightfall.

Oh well, at least I can look forward to some snowfall soon. It's one of the few things that brings some happiness to my aging and ailing dog... It always makes me happy when I see him happy. :)

:moon:

DST sucks ass. They should move the time like 3 hours back during the winter. :sun:

Why are you complaining about DST? It was DST that GAVE you the wonderful sun during the evening. We are on normal time now. If you eliminated DST, you'd always have the crappy time.

Your post SHOULD read: "Normal time sucks ass, we should have DST all year round because DST is so great."

<- I've suffered years of women incorrectly complaining about DST for the same reason. I'm tired of those complaints. DST is what they liked. They disliked normal time. So why are they (and you) complaining about the thing you liked?

Well this is the first time I had a job that I can leave during daylight hours (ever!)

So it's kinda depressing that I know I won't be home in daylight for the next few months.

not that it helped much....... I wish he would hurry up and grade the damn thing.

I'm happy about it.

At 5:30pm the Sun is hitting really bad on the commute home, not even sunglasses help.

Lets face it, winter is coming...

HAHA what are you whining about OP? Bronx ain't as far north as Alaska... it's getting pretty damn dark here at 4:30, and in December by 3:00 or 3:30.

And when Whoozyerdaddy chimes in, he's got it even worse than I do! He's further north than I am.

Literally 1 minute before i saw this thread, I was telling a co-worker we should have DST year round. I work in an office in the Sears Tower with huge windows all around, and the whole office is dark now.

No.

DST starts two weeks early, and ends one week later.

DST commonly begins in the northern hemisphere on the last Sunday in March or the first Sunday in April, and ends on the last Sunday in October. However, due to the Energy Policy Act of 2005, beginning in 2007, the United States will begin observing DST from the second Sunday in March until the first Sunday in November

Ignorance. Winter time is normal time.

If it weren't for DST, during the summer months you'd have sunrise at ~3:30-4am.

If you don't like the dark, move to the equator.

Oh well... think of it this way: One more day closer to the winter solstice..
Then from that point forward, time period of daylight increases every day :)

I miss when people read the thread and you didn't have people repeating someone replied with with the first reply...

oh wait a minute, that has never happened.

I miss DST too, I remember in college I would walk out of one of my classes and think "it was day when I walked in and now it's night" and i'd walk home pretty depressed.

I'd rather DST be all year. I hate getting off work and it's dark already. I love during the summer when it's light until 8:30-9 and I can do a lot of things outside after work.

Actually think instead of winding the clock an hour back to normal time, we should move another one or two hrs ahead in the winter. Who care if it is dark in the morning when I have to work anyway - I want light when I come home
