I never understood what the purpose of the audio connectors were that go to the sound card on the back of the cr and dvd drive mine works fine without it what is the purpose!
 
Back in the day, that's the only way sound signals were able to pass from your CD-ROM drive to sound card. 🙂
 
And you wanted to use it because the digital connection was too CPU intensive. It would, therefore, drop audio. I remember the first machine I had that could do digital. I think it had a 75MHz processor!

I always connect it. Why dump something on the bus that there is a wire for 😉 Could be wrong, but I have already established I am an old fart.
