If someone were to say, buy a $100,000 car and put $800,000 into making it fast and race it against a stock mclaren F1 which car would be faster?

I know nothing of cars, but I'm not sure how 800 grand worth of upgrades would be different than say 100 grand worth of upgrades.

Probably slower, but depending on who built it, maybe close.

You could build a drag car for a fraction of that though, and destroy it in a straight line.
 
For $800,000 USD I am sure almost anything could be modified to hold the road or fly down a track. So I would say yes, it is possible.
 
Honestly...i don't think there is much to improve on the F1. It's a car designed from the ground up for one purpose. Eventhough 800K is a lot to spend to modify a car (might as well build a car for that much money), I don't think you can do much better than the F1.
 
i wouldnt be surprised that a chevy geo could beat a mclaren with that much money, that money will buy an all out race car, slap some sticky rubber, some power, and a huge wing on there and you got yourself a track car.
