Stupid Acer monitors......

anyways, this 24" Acer keeps blacking out on me...I turn it off for the night, come back the next morning, and I'm unable to turn the thing back on..I plug in my old 19", use it for a bit, go to sleep, come back the next morning and plug in the 24" and it works again...Is something loose inside? Bad power connector? Defective LCD? I'd hate to have to spend $30-$50 to get the Acer fixed/shipped...
 
I'd RMA it if it's still under warranty. I doubt yours chances are any better with a different brand. You just got unlucky. Acer builds quality products.
 
I've heard bad things about acer but I have two Acer 19" monitors and only issue is one of them has a dead pixel but it's in a place I don't really notice. Actually took me months to notice, and really did not feel like RMAing at that point (if they'd even accept it after that long).
 
I had an Acer 23" (actually it was for one of my clients), and it had some problems. The power/menu buttons didn't work, for some reason. I had to fiddle with them, something was mechanically wrong with them.
 
I have a Samsung that did what yours is doing. This went on for about a month. Eventually it quit working and I RMA'd it.

I suggest RMA'ing it if possible. Good luck.
 
We have similar issues at work with some of our Acer monitors. A few models will not wake when the computer resumes from sleep when connected via DVI. There is no issue when using VGA, however. The only way to wake the monitor is to disconnect the power cord for a few seconds. This includes every single monitor of that same model. We couldn't figure out how to fix it so we just put them all on VGA. For a 19" 1280x1024, there isn't a discernible difference that the users could see.

The same issue exists with one model of 24" and 17" LCDs.
 
I'm with OP, my Acer AL1916 does this weird jitter problem unless the brightness is above 97. It's really stupid 🙂
 
I got the Walmart special over xmas for the gf, a Acer X223W monitor. Gorgeous panel with decent resolution. Main thing was for documents and video to be spread acrossed the screen. No issues yet, connected via DVI.
 
i currently own an acer H233H and I can tell you its a PIECE of SH** ive had to send it back to acer 4 times in 9 months and each time it took a month to get back.

I really dislike Acer Products after having such crap luck with this monitor
 
I have the same monitor. Mine blacks out after a while. I've found that if you tap it firmly in the top right corner, that it will normally come back on. I guess that is why in the old days people use to kick the tires of a car. Give it a try.

Have a neighbor who has a similar issue with a Dell monitor using the DVI Connector. Randomly the screen will just blank out. After replacing the monitor and still having the issue I learned that it was likely an issue with the videocard bios. Unfortunately the vendor of the card was unresponsive to the problem (Got a runaround). It seems to be related to ATI 3xxx series video cards (and maybe newer). I never did get it resolved but just sharing in case it helps someone else.

Ended up doing as above, just use the VGA connector, honestly I can't tell much difference but it's annoying that it doesn't work by default.
