Stupid 10 digit dialing is messing up my phone

OutHouse

QWest put 10 digit dialing in place for the Denver Metro area a few years ago. So now for every local numuber we have to dial the area code of 303 then the number. I got a new Panasonic cordless phone/answering machine around the same time as they put the dialing rules into place. Since I have to dial a 3 for every fricken call, i have noticed that its getting harder and harder to get my phone to dial a 3.

useless rant but i feel better.

welcome to the 90's (have had 10 digit dialing for who knows how long). phones today have no quality control.. the 1 on two of our sony's are barely functional

Phones these days are a POS. I have a Panasonic Cordless from 1995 and it's still in almost perfect working condition. We have even dropped it from 4 ft up (anchored on the kitchen wall) and it broke the antenna off and it still works perfectly on the ORIGINAL battery.

Phoenix has 10 digit dialing too, but its needed here. There's 3 area codes in the Phoenix area. 602, 623, and 480. It didn't take me long to adapt to dialing the area code for every call because I'd just spent a year living in another state where I had to dial the area code to call home. 🙂

that must suck. no area code crap here.

Any locale that still doesn' t have 10 digit dialing at this point probably doesn't have indoor plumbing either.

I'll take the shortened dialpad life in exchange for flushing, thanks. 😛

I'm just surprised you got a panasonic phone to last 4 years. I killed mine in less than a year, and I only made a few calls a month.

My computers dial all the outgoing calls.

My phones themselves are old turn-of-the-tone-dial units, by the way. We have a 1995 cordless, too, but it's battery life is getting sux.

care to elaborate?

not sure why it's stupid, but i can take a guess:

1) residential areas outside the beltway is 281
2) residential areas inside the beltway is 713
3) couple of years ago they added 832 which i think is only on cellphones, but cellphones are not limited to only 832, and can have either the 281 or 713.
