I have a 40gig hard drive partitioned . OS on one 20gig. and i was saving important data on the other 20. I think i got a worm or virus that has locked me out of the one partition. That partition shows as filled and is no longer recognized as a ntfs drive.
Would like to get my data back. Any ideas?
Thanks

first run norton and then look for backdoors and open ports sounds to me like you got hijacked if you have a broadband connect. if you do not have a fire wall up make it so also.
you may be able to rescue the data using disk managment console but most likely you will have to kill the bad partition
good luck

Yes,it`s a 40gig WD. I had two running and the other just died. I`m in the middle of upgrades to two 80 gig maxtors. I used a recovery program, that reads the partition,so i was at least able to see that the data is still there. I just haven`t been able to retrieve it. I was using a freeware program. Any other ideas would be helpful.
