Stuffing a Raptor in an enclosure...

Parasitic

So I'm salvaging my current desktop which has a 74GB Raptor and a WD sATA 250GB drive. Since I'm a little short on space I thought that it'd be nice to put those hard drives into external enclosures and connect them via either USB2 or Firewire (most likely Firewire since my MBP is a little short on USB ports). However I'm a little bit sketchy about letting the Raptor sit in an enclosure without vents...

Any of you have ideas? Imaginably it'd work fine since it's just a hard drive....but?

never tried it, but i wouldn't put a raptor into a non-ventilated enclosure. well maybe if it has good heat-transferring contacts that absorb heat and radiate it outside of the case.

I put my drive in a non-vented area of my PC, it was running 43C, died within a month.

Definitely not recommended unless it's an industrial drive (there actually is a difference between these and retail-- higher quality materials, more resilient to heat).
