Stuff you loved as a kid but when you went back to watch again it sucked

This is embarrassing, but as a little girl I liked some stupid chick flicks. I actually thought they were really good. "Save the Last Dance" was one of my favorite movies ever when I was 11 or so, and I saw it again recently thinking it would be great since I liked it so much as a kid, but it was incredibly horrible. One of the worst movies I have ever seen.

Others were "The Last Kiss" and that show "Degrassi". Just so horrible and embarrassing that I used to consider that shit as some of my favorites.

Doogie Houser M.D. was on after Wonder Years. I always thought that show was stupid so it pretty much just lived up to its expectations. Actually, some of the babes were cuter on it then I remembered except for the tit cut jeans and and shitty 80s hair.

wouldn't tit cut jeans be a good thing?

MTV, but back in my day all they did was show videos.

I still love Bugs Bunny et al.

Nope. Love the Stooges as a kid, watched some episodes last week. They still make me laugh.

Same for the Avengers, still want to be Emma Peel when I grow up.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The live-action movie was only slightly less annoying than the cartoon.

The other ones I've tried to go back and watch were Freakazoid and Pinky and the Brain. Funny when I was young, not really anymore. There were maybe one or two things in each episode that I enjoyed, the rest was just stupid.

you are crazy, the live action movie (first one) is still extremely badass to this day.

i'd have to say Pee Wee Herman. i saw one of his movies on tv recently and just thought WTF the entire time.

a lot of the cartoons like xmen and gi joe, the animation is painful on the eyes now.

Well. There were plenty on the cool list but aren't anymore.

There is one film long forgotten but it crept back into memory. And then I had to watch it.
Return to Oz.
I remember it being scary as hell.
If you don't remember. Ill bring up the sanatorium scene in the beginning. Or what that witch does to flip identities.
I remember seeing that on a field trip. Every damn kid came back speechless. We were all mortified.
I told my friends about this, and were genuinely excited about revisiting it.
We watched it with much dissapoint.
It sucked. However the sanatorium scene was cool. Not scary, but well done.

Transformers: The Motion Picture.

D😀😀:

what a steaming pile of dung!

I bet the GI Joe movie (~86?) is just as bad, too. I might be the only one that watched that one (repeatedly), let alone the only human on the planet that liked it.

To anyone that read the graphic novels, *all* of the TMNT materials that came after were just terrible.

Brady Bunch
Partridge Family

That's about it; can't think of anything else. Most of the crappy things mentioned in this thread - I had the good taste back then to recognize was crappy.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for sure.

Also, to this day I recall watching There's Something about Mary when I was 15 and positively laughing my ass off, almost wetting myself. I watched it again a couple of years ago and while there were a few chuckles, it's just not as funny as I remembered. That might indicate a change in maturity though; the movie might be just as funny to a 15 year old today :hmm:.

.

Ditto, only I'm a little older. I used to LOVE Spin and Marty. And I loved movies like Gidget. What was I thinking? Yuck.

S Club 7. I use to worship the shows when I was in junior high, now I can only stand a few of their songs.

Cartoons:
Voltron...i lol'd when i saw it again, watched 5 min. of it and off it went.
He-man...i didnt realize he was so gay as a kid.
Count Duckula....uhhhmmmm, i used to love that cartoon?

Games:
Another World: ..i lost patience within 3 minutes when i replayed it as an adult.
TMNT on Nes....horrible game
Myst....wtf?
Night Trap...i must have been a nerdy perv as a kid, what a POS game that is now.
Turbo Grafix 16 system...i can't believe i ever thought it was a cool system

TV:
Greatest american hero...no words
Heartcastle and Mcormik
Magnum PI...he's the gay
8 is enough....cheezits anyone?

I used to LOVE The Six Million Dollar Man. The first season is actually still pretty watchable, but after that it's so ridiculous you'll have a "I'm sucking on a lemon" look on your face. Knight Rider is pretty much the same way.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers for sure.

You know all the jokes, of course it's not as funny. First time watchers are shocked into laughing.

Now back to working on my 7 Minute Abs...
