Believable. I've known a few guys over the years that were pretty close to having a full coat of fur.

Have you heard about 2 time Hugo Award nominee Chuck Tingle?

7 pages of results on Amazon :joycat: You can see why he's been award nominated a bunch of times, powerful writing

And a sad follow up for the entrepreneur that started to deal hard drugs openly

Interesting guy. I think he did too many drugs, and it clouded his judgment. I can't see any outcome that doesn't involve sitting in jail within 24hr. If he wanted to do something, he should have done it old school, and tried to stay hidden. Might not make the statement he wanted to make, but sitting in jail without the funding to make a real PITA of yourself isn't accomplishing much either.

edit:
Oh, and today's the first day I can smoke weed just cause I want to. Problem is, I don't want to. Kind of takes the fun out of it :^/

Ever wonder how otherwise smart folks still end up buying into conspiracy theories.

-I've always heard the expression "Smart people are better at explaining their delusions" and I've seen this to an extent be true.

Couple old guys (Father and FIL) are are by all rights quite successful and intelligent problem solvers have just gone all in on conspiratorial BS since the pandemic (or "plandemic" as they might call it) and the difficult thing with arguing with them ends up being this web of alternate facts they've built in their minds.

They're great at citing sources and winning the verbal debate, but 5 seconds of googling and you realize their facts are coming from the dumpster.

I've fallen back on resorting to logical arguments rather than factual ones (so if someone did invent such magical technology for gene manipulation and tracking, why wouldn't they go legit with it and make it an actual company? What profit is there operating in the shadows?) Which tends to work a little better, it hitches them up, but then the BS engine fires up again and you can see them making up explanations out of whole cloth on the fly.

They also tend to be the more religious, and anti science, vaxxers.

Very cool website showing the Red Baron's exploits, here's the types of aircraft he shot down

no Spitfire? 🙂

Tom cruise in his F14 Tomcat would have won, guns only.
hell, Tom cruise the actor (and not the ace combat pilot he portrays) in his private P-51 Mustang would *probably* win 😉

"Of the 20 states with the worst life expectancies, eight are among the 12 that have not implemented Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act. The consequences of this obstinate Republican-driven resistance to a program whose expense is more than 90% covered by the federal government include closures of rural hospitals and high rates of uninsured residents. Interesting motor concept, mainly for range extenders on a ev

~There's no cylinder head in this motor. Also no crankshaft, no camshaft, and no valves. That's why it's no surprise that this engine tips the scales at just 85 pounds. Somehow, it still produces 120 horsepower with just half a liter of displacement, thanks to what the company calls a single-stroke combustion cycle.

RIght, there is no cylinder head as there are two opposing cylinders in the engine. This type of engine design has existed for a while (not identical). Also, no engine of this type of geometry can be 'single' stroke. Literally, in the animation, it's a two stroke engine. A one stroke cylindrical engine would be pointless, as the cylinder would only move in one direction - and then stop - forever.

The article said they avoided using 2stroke terminology to avoid people thinking it needed mixed fuel. Sometimes being technically correct isn't the best correct.

So, actually, technically wrong, but correct from a marketing standpoint. Anyway, if they have success in some success, good for them. Not much of a fan of petrol based engines anymore (unless we are talking race cars).

I'd consider race cars the most frivolous use of petrol. Better to race electric cars, and let the engineers work on increasing the efficiency of those.

Frivolous - absolutely. But, literally insignificant when it comes to climate change. That said, my addiction, F1, is working hard on hybrid systems and the next gen cars (2026) get 45% of their brake horsepower from Petrol and 55% from the electric motor + battery (more complicated than this, of course).

Not much to be done to increase the already extremely efficient electric motors, but there is a ton of work still to be done on battery development to increase usability, availability, cost/kWH, kWH/kg, lifespan and actual material recycle rates.
