I find this is what Wikipedia is fantastic at. Getting sucked into a Wikipedia hole leads me to all sorts of things I didn’t know or care about, and then I click a link and bam there’s another page of stuff I didn’t know or care about. But I can’t stop... 😀

Some of us know this, some do not.

Thomas Edisons first light bulbs didnt last very long. He eventually made a bulb with a bamboo fiber filament which could survive 1200 hours, pretty good even by todays standards for incandescent bulbs.

Rumor has it he once made a bulb that could burn considerably longer, but GE killed it because they wanted them to burn out so they could keep selling them.

Despite having a 40 year acting career Jodie Foster only hosted Saturday Night Live one time, when she was 14 years old, just after Taxi Driver came out.

Don Pardo, the original announcer, is credited with 727 episodes.
Lenny Pickett, the original band leader has 416 episodes.
Darrell Hammond is the longest running regular cast member with 401 episodes and he also took over announcing duties after Pardo died at the age of 96.
Kenan Thompson is the second busiest actor with 344 episodes spread out over 17 years.
Seth Meyers has 255 episodes to his name. Fred Armisen is at 238 but he's still a regular and may pass Seth Meyers if he gets another season.
GE Smith, the other band leader, has been in 195 episodes between 1979 and 2000.

Jacana females lay eggs (duh) but the males are responsible for building the nest, incubating the eggs, and caring for the young. The males carry the chicks around, tucked in between their wings and body.

If you have enough determination (and don't mind scratching the interior), you can fit a 4'x8' sheet of plywood in the back of a Honda HR-V...
