Main interests are food and anything that doesn't involve walking up/down hills

I haven't been to NorCal in like 15 years...

Taylor's Refresher makes my favourite, non-homemade burger.

They also have a small Slanted Door there, where I had an awesome Vietnamese sub.

I ate at Gary Danko last time I was in SF and it was phenomenal. Great food and fantastic service.

Every time I am in SF I eat at Foreign Cinema. Very good food for the price and the atmosphere is very cool. I've mentioned it here before. They play old black & white movies on a giant wall in the courtyard and I have never had a bad experience there in about 6 visits.

Great taste ;) I can whole-heartedly recommend all four of those restaurants as well.

SF has plenty kind of food to offers. what are you looking for?

Cheap hole in the walls (think Jonathan Gold)

No runs to TFL or anything this trip.

What's TFL?

"the french laundry"

http://www.frenchlaundry.com/

two consecutive weekends for me.

I uh...er...mean that I was "in the vicinity" of TFL.

Can you hit Bouchon? It's right near there of course and, well, you know how good it is for a fraction of the TFL price.

If you really want some good japanese food, there are a couple places I would definitely recommend:

Tani's Kitchen:
My Favorite Japanese place in the SF area. This place really isn't big on sushi, but the rest is absolutely great. I usually get the Spicy BBQ Hamburger Steak, amazingly good.

Muracci's:
This place opened up not too long ago, but IMO is the best Japanese style curry you can get in Norcal. Curry is all homemade (none of that Golden Curry boxed stuff). Park at Portsmouth Garage since its closeby and isn't all that expensive for parking ($2.50 an hour)

Genki Ramen:
I wouldn't really go here for the ramen, but if you like Okonomiyaki this is one of the only places in Norcal to get it (way better than Izumiya's in Japantown)

Ajisen Ramen:
I'd rate this #2 on my list of Ramen places in Norcal. Great Variety and decently priced.

Santa Ramen:
This place is supposed to be famous for their Tonkotsu Ramen. I thought this place was pretty enjoyable but the waitresses rush you a bit since theres always a long line.

Kahoo Ramen:
My favorite Ramen place in Norcal. Amazing Ramen and if you aren't feeling like noodles, all of their rice plates are delicious. Place always has a long line to get in, so usually takes about half an hour to get seated once you get there.

Tomi Sushi:
A friend recommended me this place and told me that he used to go here and order $100+ worth of sushi with just 2 people and he's a real sushi snob. Some of the best sushi I've ever had, though it is very very pricey.

I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple places, but these are the ones that come to mind first.

Tomu Sushi, Santa Ramen and Kahoo are my favorite places, although technically they are not in SF

Tani's kitchen is really a mom and pop restaurant, and a true hole in a wall gem. It's technically in daly city, but right on the SF border. Haven't been there in years, but thanks for reminding!

I'll probably hit up Oaksterdam while I'm out there :laughs;

PM me if you do. Oakland city code mandates that all visitors get shot at, and it'd probably make your stay more pleasant if a fellow AT-er does the shooting. No one likes getting shot by a stranger. Plus, my aim's not too good, so at worst you'll probably just get winged.

I'd be down for a little bullet-dodging too.
