a good...I guess bar and grill and entertainment place - any suggestions, preferably in the Arboretum area, since traffic sounds nightmarish...

matt's el rancho is the king of classic tex mex in austin.

if you don't mind a short drive, the best barbeque in texas is down 183 from austin in lockhart and luling. kreuz market and smitty's market in lockhart and city market in luling. also there is louie mueller's barbequem in taylor.

Matt's El Rancho is amazing. There is a Matt's in Dallas, too.

If you are in Austin, do NOT go to a national chain restaurant. Period. Local, small-scale chains are acceptable. Chuy's, Hula Hut, Matt's, et al.
