or Boo Berry cereal? they still make them!

anyways, i miss:
Gem and the Holligrams
My Little Pony
Care Bears
Muppet Babies
Jelly Shoes
My first two wheel bike. It was white and purple and had unicorns on it
The board game "Grape Escape" and Cooties
Feeling the excitement on the first day of school going to new classes and meeting new teachers.
The excitement i got when my family put up our christmas tree and decorations together.
Waking up on christmas morning feeling so happy to see that Santa had come.
The over-all feeling of something special around the holidays (no matter if it was Easter, Halloween, etc.). I no longer have that feeling. :(

My parents not being divorced.
My Dad being alive

Damn, that hurts.

Okay, enough of that sappy stuff:

Going to my Grandparents and watching TV in color. And they had remote control. (this was in the 60's and it was a big deal)

I know how you feel. I remember coming home from school and riding my bike around my neighborhood from 3:00pm till 8ish, and feeling like I had been out there forever. The world seemed bigger, more enchanting. Holidays were looked at in anticpation for months. I can remember summer feeling like it lasted a lifetime, and now I hardly get used to the warm weather and it's cold again already.

I miss that magic feeling of my youth, where nothing mattered in the world but how long before I got to go outside and play. No responsibilites, no worries, food, shelter, and clothes provided. Vacations were an adventure, etc. Sigh...now I am depressed at work in my gray, mundane, cubicle. What I wouldn't give to be back in that tree fort me and my friends built. We wouldn't have traded it for the biggest mansion in Beverly Hills.

Days at the beach fishing with nets and spears, swimming, swinging out on the rope swing and dropping 10 feet into the creek. Going to the shops to get 1 cent sweets from the dairy. Finding old bikes on inorganic rubbish collection day and riding them until we found more, better, bikes. BB guns. Bullrush. Being able to walk in the street in bare feet without worrying about stepping on a junkie's needle or something. New Zealand FTW!.. Also NES, Lego, Tintin.

My biggest problem in life not being able to get past a level in Mario.

I couldn't wait until I was all grown up and an adult, I always thought "then I can do whatever I want, when I want" now I have to work my ass off to keep afloat. It was better being a kid.

Dodgeball.
Playing in the creek behind our house.
Having all of the neighborhood kids crowd around the NES and everyone sleeping over.
Watching Saved by the Bell on Saturday mornings.
Having the family together all of the time. Now we're all doing things separately (naturally).
Playing baseball in an organized league

Aye, this is quite depressing.

:(

Edit to add: Being a kid kept you really insulated with close groups of people. I had my neighborhood kids that I went to school with and then we got to hang out after school and weekends so we were always doing something. Now, I have my work "friends" and then friends that I socialize with when we can arrange it.

I miss the feeling that summer vacation seemed to last forever. I miss innocence, and the feeling that the world was new. Not having to work.
