I've been debating with co-workers about how to interpret that study.

"using built-in secure erase commands is unreliable and sometimes results in all the data remaining intact. Furthermore, our results also show that sanitizing single files on an SSD is much more difficult than on a traditional hard drive."

I took that as if the SSD implemented Secure Erase, like SSD F, H and I, then you would be OK. But not all implementations of Secure Erase are done properly and you really have no way of telling unless you try and recover the data.

Wow. I guess I didn't even consider this. Luckily for anyone concerned who's already written to an unencrypted drive, the SSD's are much easier to physically destroy...
