Study shows Fox News makes you stupid

This is no surprise by the postings made by those on the right.

More evidence coming out how their intelligence levels are falling below acceptable levels for a functional society.

This is great news because at this rate they will no longer even bother to register to vote. Sadly those that still do will be under Palin and the Tea Party.

Even Rush is worried about the former Republicans that have defected to the Tea Party.

Will he wrest control of the Tea Party away from Palin before the 2012 election?

Study Shows Extended exposure to Fox makes people stupid

The troublesome record of spin by conservative television station Fox News has long been a cause for concern to many Americans, who frequently allege that the nation's most viewed "news" network has the effect of dumbing down voters.

91 percent believed the stimulus legislation lost jobs;
72 percent believed the health reform law will increase the deficit;
72 percent believed the economy is getting worse;
60 percent believed climate change is not occurring;
49 percent believed income taxes have gone up;
63 percent believed the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts;
56 percent believed Obama initiated the GM/Chrysler bailout;
38 percent believed that most Republicans opposed TARP;
63 percent believed Obama was not born in the U.S. (or that it is unclear).

The poll's findings seem to sync with those of an NBC News survey (PDF) taken during the height of America's health care reform debate, where Fox News viewers were found to be most likely to have believed wildly inaccurate interpretations of the legislation.

And it doesn't help that one of their most-watched opinion hosts, conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck, is prone to making up outrageous falsehoods to scare viewers.
The network has big plans to expand it's brand into the future: According to anchor Chris Wallace, the 2012 Republican presidential primary elections will be "a production of Fox News," not unlike the Fox network's American Idol.

91 percent believed the stimulus legislation lost jobs;

There is no way to prove or disprove this.

72 percent believed the health reform law will increase the deficit;

It will over time.

60 percent believed climate change is not occurring;

Inaccruate statement Climate change is always occurring. 60% don't believe in Al Gores Global Warming BS. Big Difference.

63 percent believed the stimulus legislation did not include any tax cuts;

A very tiny one at best.

38 percent believed that most Republicans opposed TARP;

A large portion did. Hard to prove one way or the other.

63 percent believed Obama was not born in the U.S. (or that it is unclear).

I think most wished that he hadn't been born. Along with Pelosi and Reid.

Oh 100% find your post retarded.

methinks you just proved his point. Congrats.

So, you are saying a sample of 848 people is a large enough sample to make the study reliable?

Yes it is if it followed basic scientific analysis and survey rules.

Notice how they get election polls from a couple thousand or less yet they falls in line with how millions of others vote?

If you don’t understand that take a statistical analysis class.

EDIT:

Just gave it a quick look over and it does look like they followed most basic rule and came to a Margin of Error: +/- 3.4%.
Also where and who the data came from is at the bottom. Looks like a good wide open selection.

Democrats must be stupid too...

"41% of Democrats believe TARP was signed under Obama"

"14% of Democrats believe that if Chrys/GM get back on their feet, the Gov't will recover ALL of its money"

Oh, also, let's not mention that the question regarding Health Reform stated...
OVER THE NEXT TEN YEARS... but let's keep picking and choosing

Wow, there's something to be really proud of -- agreeing and standing together with Dave McOwen, the forum's official village idiot.

Attacking the messenger and avoidance by derision are both classic forms of denial, with a capital D. You're engaging in both behaviors.

Fox News isn't news at all, but rather a propaganda organ of the right wing of the Republican Party. They disseminate falsehoods as truth. The linked article merely demonstrates their effectiveness. Your own comments and those of other resident Righties demonstrates it in ways that the article does not.

Said the Fox News viewer.

91 percent believed the stimulus legislation lost jobs;

Where, and how did this number come from?
Is it YOUR impression that the stimulus legislation:

Caused job losses..................................................24%
Voted..........................................................26
Voted Republican.......................................38
Voted Democratic......................................12

Saved or created a few jobs...................................64
Voted..........................................................61
Voted Republican.......................................57
Voted Democratic......................................65

Saved or created several million jobs......................9
Voted..........................................................11
Voted Republican.........................................2
Voted Democratic......................................21

Don’t know/Refused................................................3

Actually, I don't deny that Fox is biased towards the right and that many idiots watch it and treat it as gospel. I also don't deny that MSNBC leans to the left and that many idiots watch it and treat it as gospel. 🙂

Really? Where did I support Fox News? I was making fun of Dave more than anything. 😀 I personally find Fox News revolting, but I have to admit, I do enjoy watching lefties such as yourself getting upset and foaming at the mouth at the mere mention of Fox.

Silly libtards. If watching Fox makes people dumb, watching MSNBC or reading HuffPo has to result in intelligence levels barely capable of regulating basic biological function.

Is this really a shock to anyone? Do conservatives really not know that Fox News spouts off misinformation all the time?

All news is biassed in one way or another. There are people here that are devoted to sources like huffington, dailykos, democratunderground, moveonn, etc. ;or sources very similar to them. Many on the left has nothing to be smig about wrt their choses sources of information.

If you have information to show those have been giving out wild and false information then post it. I have yet to see that as large scale as that is Fox "news".

What makes people stupid Dave, is their inability to see beyond their own beliefs or interests. Your brand of ignorance is no better than mine, your blind hate of things you don't like is no different than any other bigot on the street.

Poll validated.
