I still enjoy driving, always have. I think the insane price of gas is keeping many of those who used to drive for fun at home instead.
That fact notwithstanding, I think the new car market somewhat reflects this as well. There were a lot more "fun" cars and a lot fewer SUVs on the market in the early - mid 90s than there have been recently (although this trend has somewhat reversed in the last couple years, thankfully).
The 300ZX TT, Supra TT, RX-7, 3000GT VR-4, Camaro, Firebird, etc. All of which were killed around 1996ish (with the exception of the F-body, which lasted till 2002). Those that were eventually resurrected got a weaksauce replacement (350z = meh, RX-8 = meh^2). Now most of the US market revolves around high-mpg economy plastic sh!tboxes and SUVs.

i would blame traffic and toyota. no, seriously. you can't argue against their build quality, but they are SO fvcking boring to drive, and SO many people buy them, that you just can't be surprised when increasing numbers of people don't get excited about driving. i wouldn't be excited to drive, either, if my main ride was a toyota. you know it's bad when my gf practically creams herself driving my station wagon because it is so much more fun and engaging than her camry.

Sounds like he bought the wrong car. You don't get a Corvette for "fit and finish" - most Vette buyers know this. You get a Corvette because there's nothing else anywhere NEAR that price point that can touch the performance. Most people aren't going to spend $45k on a 400hp RWD car and expect the interior to be in the same class as a comparably priced luxury sedan.
I would guess that most Vette owners (who bought the car for the RIGHT reasons) love their car, despite any squeaks / rattles.

I sat, parked, on a major interstate for two hours today because some moron flipped his towed RV over. blocking both travel lanes, the exit ramp lane, and both shoulders. I still love my car, and I love driving.
Worst thing is that I didn't need to be on the interstate at all - surface streets were actually shorter, but I decided to change things up a bit today.
You also are saving a couple hundred extra a month by not having a GF or social life!

...but yeah, Camrys are pretty boring.
I love driving, and I love riding my motorcycle...but I certainly love it a lot more once you get OUT of the city and away from all the other cars.

I'm not normally a Jules Maximus fan, but I'm with him on this. It doesn't matter how much the car costs, or what it's for. If they can't put it together properly then it's not a good car. That's a basic building block of a car, finish.
That's like if they put some metal spikes in the drivers seat and said, "Well you still can't beat it for the price!" Or if they used brake lines made of chocolate. You just don't do it. If you're going to build a car, you build it right.

I really enjoy driving, but only in light traffic. I love to cruise with the windows down and tunes cranked while the sun sets. Any other time and under any other conditions, it fscking blows. Too many dumbass fvckheads on the road.
