I for one, am loving this show.

Yeah, I loved it both times I saw it.

I dunno. It's like watching West Wing in Hollywood. I've already had 7 years (or however long it was) of West Wing and this style just seems kinda played out.

Maybe I'll warm up to it as the season progresses

Good, since I never watched WW 😀

I never saw West Wing, so maybe that has something to do with it.

The later seasons of the West Wing were nothing like the first two or three seasons when Sorkin was working on it.

Sports Night and the first seasons of The West Wing are my favorite shows. This one looks promising too, even though it did start out a little slow.

I've said this many times before and I'll say it again. The second season finale of West Wing (Two Cathedrals) is one of the top 5 TV episodes ever made. I can't even name any that are better, but I won't say it's the best. The last few minutes, with Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits in the background, were more moving than anything I've ever seen on TV, and it had all of 3 lines of dialogue.

Agreed x 100. The first two episodes from Season 2 were excellent as well.

I just watched the pilot episode twice, and the only thing I can't shake is that I think I'd like it better if it was on HBO.

My wife missed the first 5 minutes or so and I wasn't really watching it that intently. We both had no freakign clue what the hell was going on. Her statement was: "I'm not goign to watch this if I have to think about it this hard just to figure out what's going on every week..."

While I'll still watch it, it kinda felt like its playing on the whole be be crude and be a jerk because that is real comedy. I really enjoyed West Wing because it was real discussions about real issues while being funny, at least the first few seasons. I hope this show is sort of the same.

Excellent show based on the 1st episode. Classic Sorkin writing style, very quick paced.

Agreed 1000%. I'm a huge Sorkin fan and Studio 60 does not disapoint. It's very Sports Night esque and that is a very very good thing. And what's great is that Pilots are not really Sorkin's forte. Sports Night pilot wasn't very good, West Wing pilot was good, but nothing like the next 21 episodes of season 1. So I'm very very psyched about the next episodes.

We'll see. I watched about 45 minutes of it last nite, and wasn't very impressed, but maybe, as the season goes on, things will improve. I hope so, because so much of what's on the tube sux badly...

I varied from dislike to strong dislike of the west wing. I just did not feel that the subject matter was done right. Studio 60 seems perfect for that style of writing. I liked it quite a bit. Not really convinced that amanda peet could become head of NBS though.

just watched the first episode. So far, I'm not liking it. I'll give it 2 episodes, if it doesn't do anything for me by then I'm quittin'.

I already see one major problem here, none of the actresses are hot. No eye candy is automatic 2 points off in my book.

My gf and her mom is into it. I don't dig the show.
It's just a show that attempts to show the "behind the scenes" cogs of hollywood. Which just translates into a huge hollywood/entertainment business circle jerk that lacks any substance of ideas.
The show would work out better in an HBO type forum.

Either way, I'lll pick the worst monday night football game over this show.

entourage is a better behind the scenes show.

I can't watch entourage either. I suppose it was decent at the very beginning, but now it's just a self-fellating fad.

I'm not quite sure what the point of this show is. I just got done watching it and then thought "...ok....so what?..."

Comedy?

I didn't think the second episode was as good as the first.

We'll see.

DAMNIT! Why don't they just kill it!!??? :|
For fans who have liked Aaron Sorkin's new drama, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," but were afraid to watch thinking it might be canceled - you can relax.

NBC last week gave the show a full season order of 22 episodes, which is a rather amazing commitment to the show considering it draws less than 8 million viewers. That would be considered a "cancelable" show by network standards.

The renewal may be a case of life imitating art in which the fictional network programming chief on "Studio 60" (Amanda Peet) has been a character that dismisses quick ratings fixes in the name of art.

What's it to you? Why your pathetic need to see it cancelled? Just because you're not smart enough to understand it doesn't mean that the rest of us don't appreciate a show with some intelligence. If it bothers you so much DON'T WATCH IT.

B/C it's not intelligent. There's nothing intelligent about it. I've tried to give it some time, but it seems like a bunch of forced tripe that definitely isn't finding an audience. The show thinks so highly of itself that it's insulting. This works on a political drama like The West Wing (which I loved), but the witty dialog and battling parties doesn't work in a setting that people really don't give two sh!ts about: a late night comedy series.

But since NBC has sunk so much money into the show and has such a big-name/high-dollar cast on the line, it doesn't want to tuck it's tail and admit that it has a bomb/failure on its hand.

NBC is tanking and a high-risk show like this is the last thing that NBC needs right now in a time where it is in dead last place. People are not watching, the show is not finding an audience...cut your losses and put some time and effort into a show that people actually care about and stop wasting everybody's time.

This isn't a matter of saving a show b/c people like it. It's a matter of trying to put a hat on to stop water from hitting your head from a leaky roof instead of getting to the source of the problem.
