We wonder why people stand around watching somebody get beat to death in this country, it is being taught in or classrooms.

Last week, Virginia Beach, Virginia sixth grader Adrionna Harris noticed her classmate doing something terrible – he was cutting his arm with a small razor. The Bayside Middle School student knew that was wrong, so she stepped in and took the razor away, and threw it out. It was an act that one mightthink would earn her praise from her school. As WAVY 10 On Your Side News reports, it instead earned her a suspension and possible expulsion.

That’s right, Adrionna received a 10-day suspension, the only reason being because she had admitted what happened. With the weapon disposed, it was her truthfulness that led to the punishment. Adrionna’s mother, Rachel Harris, is understandably frustrated with the school’s actions. She told WAVY, “I felt she did the right thing…There was not a teacher in sight while this boy was cutting himself. She felt like it was almost a 911 situation, that she had to help immediately, like there wasn’t time to find a teacher…The school system over-reached absolutely.” As Adrionna herself put it, “…I was just trying to help.”

On top of not agreeing with the school’s severe punishment, Rachel was not happy with the lack of response she was getting. She told the station her calls were not being returned. Finally, when WAVY started inquiring, the school started to get in touch with Rachel. Currently, a hearing regarding the suspension is scheduled for today. The Harrises hope for Adrionna’s immediate return to the classroom.

So, with all this turmoil, would Adrionna do it all over again? Knowing how quick she was to act to help a classmate, her answer isn’t all that surprising. She told the station, “Even if I got in trouble, it didn’t matter because I was helping him … I would do it again even if I got suspended, yes.”

FTFY

Being "taught" in one classroom, maybe. Zero tolerance policy by the school, possibly.

The student did nothing wrong; she should have the suspension expunged from her record as it follow her through her education.

Sounds like the school may be circling the wagons.

These Administrators at this school have taught every student going to the school that if you see somebody in trouble that you do not help and that you do not tell the truth.

Sounds like proper education for the nightmare world we live in.

I did not see that in the article but thanks for the clarification.

Sounds like the administrators are asshats; no surprise there. They're probably trying to cover their asses against legal recourse from someone who though meaning well has turned a simple situation into a bigger one.

I'm wondering how the singular noun belongs with the plural pronoun in the title.

School administrators are the stupidest fucking people on the planet.

This is the problem with leftist school administrators.

You might want to consider the school board, advised by risk management, influenced by the courts who've heard and too often sided with, whiny parents too willing to litigate, who hold those school administrator's job's, life and, licensing in their hands.

Having trouble following all that? So does most of the American public.

The news reporters showed a picture of this so called razor.. and it really wasn't. It was smaller than a dime and so tiny, you couldn't really call it a razor. But it just seems school officials go nuts with these zero tolerance policies and more minority kids become the targets for this "over the top" reactionary crap.

What? Many of them are leftist and do idiotic things like this.

I'll bite.

This whole left vs right thing is what is wrong with politics in the country. It's what makes 90% of the posts in forums like this completely useless. This wasn't a partisan issue until you started trolling about it. Especially when the subject matter doesn't have anything to do with it...

Clear the shit from your eyes. Learn to think critically about the situation at hand without jumping to conclusions; rational people will actually take your opinions seriously. Otherwise, you're simply wasting your time. You clearly aren't interested in hearing a different point of view and your attitude doesn't make anyone else want to hear yours.

You're assuming he has reasons other than trolling.

Speaking of useless posts, you're probably well aware that you can't reason with incorruptible. You'll just get a statement that doesn't follow. So what's your real motive here, buddy? What are you up to? A cunning plan?

Let's bring that up to 91%

How are you guys forming opinions? The article is full of holes. What was the reason they suspended her, for telling the truth? That makes no sense, obviously that's not the reason she was suspended. Did they suspend her while they investigated? That sounds more likely. No teacher saw what happened, so it could be a he-said-she-said situation. And what's this bit about students aren't supposed to tell the truth and they aren't supposed to report other students? There is no way that's the "policy."

The article is very poorly written with very little facts.

It wasn't a he-said-she-said situation. She reported the incident to school administration the next day and stated that she had thrown away the razor blade after she took away the weapon from the student hurting himself. She then got a 10-day suspension because she admitted she was in possession of a weapon when she took away the razor and threw it away. The only reason the school administration even knew about the weapon being on campus is that she reported it. So it doesn't take a very smart person to come to the conclusion that in the future you do not report anything to the school administration because even if you are trying to do the right thing you could get suspended and possibly expelled. Only after media attention was turned on the school and the district was the suspension reversed and removed from her record.

Were the people responsible for this leftists or not? Do you remember the cases where students used their fingers as guns or had a pink toy gun? It was the left that wanted action against them.
