I ask because im already accepted into one law school, and waiting to hear back from another. I dont want to get signed up with any loans from that first one until im sure im going there. How long before school starts do i have to get the ball rolling?

I've already filled out the FAFSA, just need to hear back from the final school.....

With all my student loans from the government (ie FAFSA), I got them about mid September and mid February. That is about a month after classes start. They need to wait to make sure you stay enrolled at the level you claimed you would.

Don't worry about it. You have 180 days after you get the money to return it completely free - even interest free. That means you can earn quite a lot on the loan by investing it during those days. Just be sure to return it before the 180 days are up.

Depends on who you go through. I went through Nellie Mae. They mail your check to the universities bursar office, so you just go sign the check when you start school.
