Student Loan debt

I graduated in December, and I'm calling around trying to get a consolidated loan and my total amount to repay is around ~$55,000... kind of a smack in the face. 🙁

How much was yours and how long did it take you to repay it?
 
0.. starting to slowly go up during the job hunt. Think I'm at 200 now, don't know if that counts as student loan debt. I did quit a job to go back to school
 
0 for me and 0 for my 3 sisters...I still don't know how my dad did it... but I will never complain about it. 🙂

Parents.. but I was middle class growing up so I don't really know how it happened. They paid for my 3 brothers too.
 
I'm in school right now (undergrad), and I have loans. School costs alone ~ $3000 a quarter. Since there are 3 quarters in a year, and hopefully, I will only be in school (ungrad at least) for only 4 years, so....3000x3x4 = ~$36000 in loans. 🙁 I'm glad they are federal loans at least (right?).
 
my great-grandparents paid for my grandparents to go to college, my grandparents paid for my parents to go to college, my parents paid for me to go to college, and i will pay for my kids to go to college.

thinking of going for an MS soon, but in that case my job has a tuition reimbursement benefit that would pay for it.

however, my wife went to law school, so we have a ton of loans for that.
 
Something around $30k.

Kinda makes me wish I went to a state school instead or if I lived in NY (lived a little south of the border in PA), I would've just gone to the local state school there for mad cheap.

Yeah, I should did my lower division classes (general chem, calculus, physics) at a state college. It would've been easier and cheaper.

I don't know how common this is but in WA we have running start so you can get your first two years for free during high school. They really did not advertise that program enough.

In my case it was bad though since my college was already free and my Senioritis permanently damaged my college transcripts

US Army College Fund - roughly $35K total that was paid monthly while enrolled in school full time.


 
BS: $0.

MS/PhD: Just over $8000. But then, I used it to buy a car and make a dent in my house downpayment. Since it is just about 3%, I see no reason to pay it off sooner than I have to. I've been paying for just over 4 years and I will have it paid off in 10 years.
 
Just under $30k for my BS. My wife had just under $40k for her BA.

Down to $8k on mine and $33k on hers.

Student loans suck. I hope that my kids won't have to deal with student loan debt when the time comes.
