So I've been assigned to try and design a nice looking school ID. the one from last year was pretty plain. Picture, school logo, name and grade on a white background.

Is it possible for you guys to give me some ideas on what to put in the design? I want it to look professional yet at the same time look unique and good.


I can post a design I have already tried to make which I think is decent but not WOW. let me know if you want me to upload it.

maybe you guys could post your own school IDs or previous or something.

well the pic came out small when I uploaded it, but I think you guys get the idea

over the larger gray box would be the student's picture.

over the smaller gray box, would be the student's name. ( i am thinking about keeping the gray box in the background of the name so it is clearly visible

some drop shadow added, just noticed that distortion on the ram, so i'll fix that up after some feedback
 
Does the school have a historic building? If so, light line work of the building as a background might look good.
 
I saw some pic of ohio state described like that. unfortunately, no the school does not have a specific building that is old and special

I like this idea. Make the card a cool color, add some eye-catching graphics without making it look too cheesy.

Hard to suggest anything innovative, unless the school can spring for clear cards or holographic imprints (holo wolf!)

well, the school has one of those standard ID creating machines, I dont think its possible to make anything holographic with one of those, because if it could, i might want to put the sport team logo as a holograph in the middle

I dropped the opacity on the Ram in the pic because I thought it would look a little better, would you guys think 100% would be better?

I think it's fine at whatever it's at. That's just a mockup, right? The final design would be cleaned up a bit (ram edges a bit messed up from pasting)?
 
Switch the ram so he faces toward the picture space.

Then the 733T students will get their pictures in poses to generate maximum lulz. 😉

That would work so well if they allowed the students to pose for ID pics.

the school uses the yearbook pictures.

turning the ram around would be an obvious change that everyone would notice
