Gist of it is, I have been going to college for the past 2 years.

The first year I spent living in my grandparents basement. I didn't make any friends or acquaintances, and really had no fun.

This last year I moved in with a guy from work and his friend. Met up with a girl from work a few times but nothing became of it. Still have no friends and know no one (two guys graduated, moving off, both think I should go into student housing to meet new people).

Now, I have a decision. I need to move out. I have a choice of going into student housing, paying rent + food, having a pool, and hopefully a lot more social opportunities. Room I would be going into is smaller, could manage to fit most of my stuff but be cramped.

or I can go live in my grandparents basement again, free rent + food, much larger room.

I do have the money to move into student housing, but would have to rely more on my parents for next semesters tuition. I will be living in this place until the end of summer. During this time I will also be taking summer classes.

What are your experiences with student housing? What would you do?

Any opinions/experiences are appreciated.

IMO, living in student housing is well worth the extra dough. The experiences and and friends you'll gain are totally worth every penny.
