I guess I could have played sports by your standards but i have to ask. How could you keep a 3.0 gpa and play sports at the same time?

How can you not? Xiety here pulled a 4.0GPA and played sports at the same time. That took some dedication and hardwork. It's show a lot of determination on his part.

Since when is "playing sports" not a right? There are those people that are street smart, those that are book smart, and those that are neither. Keep taking away rights and see where that puts the US down the road.

Oh...correction...it's not a right in high school.
Fine, but there are other options than playing in high school.

Good for him. You have one person to back you up. Lets all be like Xiety.

Where does it say he "forged papers?" I only see that he forged a math teacher's signature...nothing about papers.

Yeah it was a waste of time. I'll admit that. But still, I mean, while you're in there you might as well make the best of it and try to do your best instead of fvcking around right?
Why bother? A GED would have put me in the same place I am now with a diploma.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the military not accept people with GEDs? I'd rather have a HS diploma than a GED. I'm sure other people might agree with me as well. It shows that I went through their bullsh!t and I made it.
Why does the military have anything to do with this? So you use your diploma as an accompolishment to make yourself feel better, I don't.

Just trying to make a comparison, that's all.

I'm not saying let's all be Xiety. But when it comes to the point that you have to forge a signature just to play sports, that's just sad.

uh, military takes Ged... you all are smoking crack. a 4.0 in high school, working full time, and playing sports is possible.. life is easy when your in high school. Its just that nobody cares! And they shouldn't! High school is weak sauce.

So one person screws up and now everyone should be punished by upping the GPA minimum because you think it is too low?

You eliminate a job and social life.

Actually I've known a lot of students who played sports that maintained a 3.5GPA and had a gf at the same time.

A girlfriend does not eat up all your time unless you are pussy-whipped.

I actually do think the GPA minimum is too low. It's way too low. It should be at least in the 2.5-3.0 GPA levels. American schools are too lenient.

GPA does not mean sh!t though. As long as you get a degree, that is all that is needed.

You have no idea.

I had 4.0 GPA, was in the football team (linebacker/kicker/punter) and the basketball team (forward, I didn't play every game, but didn't miss a practice) during winter; and was in the track team during Spring. And I worked in the local movie theater every Monday/Wednesday/Friday.

Yes, you need to be pretty dedicated but being dedicated was my only way out of Kansas... now I am in Virginia Tech. I am happy and I am glad I did all that stuff. Heh.

I got a question for you guys.

Are most of you the majority of Americans who graduate from high school that head straight into the work force? Because I watched a report 2 years ago that stated many caucasian families don't pressure their kids to attend college while a vast majority of minorities went ahead to college because of parental involvement. So.........you went straight to work or went straight to college?

Highschool was a waste of time.

Funny how those who say high school was a waste of time are the ones who can't even make a B average. Then wonder why they are leading meaningless lives.

I suppose you don't realize that GPA affects the schools you can get into? There's a difference between a degree from a top 20 school from a top 50 school from a top 1000 school.

a 2.0??? jeasus thats easy todo. i had a 3.9 and plaied 3 sports soccer, skiing and golf, wasent that hard HS is a joke. a joke because its so damn easy. these peopel that cant geta 2.0 are just really really stupid

My point is you couldn't handle high school yet you say it was a waste of time.

Ok Mr. Know-it-all. Explain to me how someone "leading a meaningless life" like me is graduating from a Top 20 school?

I'm not saying that that High School GPA means much of anything, but saying you need to give up your social life and your job to play sports and maintain a 4.0 in high school is crazy. I had a 4.0, played sports, and had a job. It really wasn't that hard. Most of the time it was just a matter of actually trying.

Well..I wouldn't take it that far WinkOsmosis. I've known many people who didn't do well in school but worked very hard to achieve a great job. Some people just aren't good academically. But I still say they should raise the minimum GPA standard.

I obviously handled it since I graduated. I, however, was not one to study and make my life school. I played sports (baseball and soccer) year round, I worked a fulltime job, and had a girlfriend. Instead of making my school, I lived the way I wanted to.
