Stuck in HL2 -- Prison Level

If I recall correctly, its too far a reach to pull out with the G-Gun (pulling on the wire doesn't work, you have to pull the actual plug). So, like MCrusty said, you toss a grenade in there and it blows the plug out of the socket.

Or you can use the gravity gun on the barrels and try to knock the socket off with it.. that's what I did.

I used the gravity gun from the the very edge of the force shield and worked... oh well, what ever works 🙂

I believe I just threw a grenade in there...
This is what I did as well. Worked like a charm.

EDIT: And if you are concerned about losing a grenade, I believe there is one sitting in that room for you to pick right back up. My memory could fail me though.

Valve put a few grenades in that window (that you can see the plug through) to give you that hint, IMHO.

Make you wonder why bad guys would leave grenades and goodies around for you to use against them or when they stand around explosive barrels 🙂

Cause that's what bad guys do 😛

You can look @ Half-Life 2 as a action/adventure movie only that it's interactive & in usual action/adventure movie rules. The bad guys are always dumber than the hero/heroin/heroes, least dumb enough to tell about their diabolical plans before the supposed demise of a hero/heroin or in this case leaving lethal weapons & stuff laying about.
