Stuck between the X2 3800+ and the 4400+...

So.. i am stuck between these two. 3800+ has 512x2kb , 4400+ has 2x1mb. I can easily OC my 3800+ to OVER 4400+ speeds, and over 4800+ speeds.

But, does cache make a difference? a difference worth paying about $175 more?

I doubt it... but input is welcome :)

I'd say NO WAI if you look at it as a 60% price increase for a possible 10% performance difference. You can debate those numbers but the margin is small.

See if you can find an Opteron 165 or 170 (very hard now) and oc it to the hilt

I decided not to, I don't think the cache do much, except for some few specific tasks.

it's not worth the difference. 1MB of cache X2 isn't even worth a 200 MHz bonus in most cases; for $175 more it's much better spent in something else (like a new video card :D).
