I am not sure if I am posting in the right forum but I have a P5W DH Deluxe OC question.

I am running an E6400 with 2 GB XMS2 Corsair RAM (4-4-4-12-2(Rt))

I have managed the following:
CPU Freq: 3.20 Ghz
FSB: 420
Mem running at DDR800 at 2.1V with 4-4-4-12-2(Rt)
CPU Volt: 1.375
FSB TermV: 1.40
MCH Volt: 1.55
ICH: Auto

This configuration is stable. Orthos runs 8 hrs.
The rig is water-cooled with a Corsair Nautilus (I am a WC noob and that kit was awesome).
Idle Tem:39-40
Load: 52-53

Now....
I want to go further.
CPU Freq: 3.37 GHz
FSB: 420
Mem at DDR630

and all the above prior settings with volatge boost to 1.41.
No Go.
Windows Boots. Orthos crashes?

I even tried loosening RAM timings to 5-5-5-15-2(Rt)
No luck...Orthos locks up.

What am I doing wrong?
It was such an incremental step up and I even backed the memory speed and timing down and it was a no go.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Neil

That may very well be the limit of your processor. Although, nearly all processors will go slightly farther, if you give them enough voltage. Here's the only C2D OCing guide that I'm aware of: link. OCing, BTW, is a process of experimentation. Nobody has ever gotten a 1+ Ghz OC by changing 4,5, or 12 settings in their BIOS, then forgetting about it.

420 FSB on the i975 chipset is very good, consider yourself lucky.

Now, above 400 FSB straps timings get loose, you might even lose some performance.

Run at 3.2Ghz, it is good enough (it's a 50% o/c !!). Most people running much above it have very high VCore or it is only Superpi stable.

Well for a E6400 on a 975x chipset, thats quite a good result.U;ve pretty much reached the limitations of ur chipset and proc.If u want to go higher u'll have to get phase-change cooling but thats expensive, complicated to setup and risky(improper installation can kill ur proc, motherboard etc..)
So u should be happy with what u got.
