String Trimmer - Pull Behind?

Just had over 1000 feet of PVC four rail horse fence installed. The tractor mower deck is too big to slide under the bottom rail, this will obviously require a string trimmer. I don't want to walk with my trimmer 1000 feet on one side and then the other side of the fence. Is there a tow behind or riding mower/trimmer that can trim this fence?

Horse fence? If you're keeping horses in there, no trimming is necessary. They'll take care of that for you.

Well, not really. Horses dont eat everything in the field, so weeds tend to takeover if not properly cut back. I have found that to maintain a good pasture actually requires mowing back and trimming on a regular basis. I have 4 seperate pastures that I move the horses through on a weekly rotation. One week in pasture, then it gets mowed down and manure picked. This keeps the weeds Iin check and then the grass has 3 weeks to regrow before the horses are back.

Op I havnt seen any pull behind, I just use a self propelled, walk behind trimmer for my fence lines.

Do you think it would be that unsightly if you simply went down the fence line once or twice a year and applied a 6" strip of glyphosate?

i don't have nearly as much fence, but this is basically what i do to my chain link and wood fence. it keeps it looking pretty sharp and takes very little time.

Thanks for the responses: Glyphosate will be looked into. It appears safe to be around horses so cost and application will be weighed. The tow behind trimmer besides costing $699 requires too slow a towing speed (3 mph max) to be effective. I think I’ll try the Glyphosate first and see how that does.
