Strike at Verizon - 45000 walk out

I mostly meant it as a joke.... that they would go on strike because of the changes to the data plan... when I saw the headline, it was the first thing that I thought of. I didn't realize that it wasn't the mobile unit though...
 
the first thing i thought was who still has traditional phone service? i've been on digital phone for almost 10 years. first vonage and now time warner cable.

probably 30% if not more in the US. Most of us city folk forget there are millions in rural areas who cannot get digital. Hell, some places in the US still use dial-up analog!

i remember the last strike was big news for a few weeks. this one very few seem to care. so many people are on digital phone and cell phones only that the union is screwed
 
So, That just means there are now 45,000 vacant jobs for those people that really would appreciate having a job.

So Employment contract not signed, 45,000 walk out. Call it abandoning the job and higher new people are eliminate Union influences. Sounds like a perfect time to clean up shop.
 
It's funny how they say that managers will basically fill these 45,000 roles and that basically nothing will be affected by them not being there. It makes it sound like don't need these 45,000 people.

And yes I realize you can keep something running temporarily with a smaller workforce but can't sustain it that way.
 
Not smart... with the economy as bad as it is, I'm sure that they'll have no problems hiring decently skilled scab workers if they decide to go that route.

Hell... I'd give a temporary FIOS installation job a try if I was out of work for a year.

i think FIOS is a different company as well. verizon is smart like that, they put all the different services into different companies so that the unions can't infiltrate them all.
