Strictly hypothetical question about CD burners...

Do some software CD's have anti-piracy protection to prevent them from being copied to another CD? If so, might that software cause the following error when trying to copy the CD:

T0100: I/O error (03/73/03) - CD error - power calibration area error
T7118: TrackWriter error - Command retry failed

If this were not caused by some sort of anti-piracy code, is there an explanation as to why trying to copy this CD would ALWAYS cause this error while other CD's can be copied without a problem?

Strictly hypothetical of course.

In the past, before CD's when all software came on a floppy disk, the software always said that you were allowed to make a backup of the disk. Is this still true for CD's?

Remember, this is hypothetical...

That's what I thought at first so I tried another CD and it failed too. So then I did a test by burning a music CD to a third CD and it worked fine. Is it just coincidence that I picked two bad CD's in a row? These would be the first two bad CD's that I have ever encountered.

Yes, alot of game CD's come with some type of anti-copying features. Sometimes you can copy them but the game won't play or install correctly.

here

Click on the "cd protections' article in the drop down menu.

Please do some reading on the industries anti-copying methods. While some methods are easily solved, others are not with the the general mastering software.
