Strictly doing something like hookah once a month...

And not even once a month, mostly; very rarely. Is it possible to get a nicotine addiction? My friends do it occasionally, but I definitely don't want the nicotine addiction, so I place this restriction on myself.

I've done it twice; once about a month ago, and another time yesterday. I don't feel much of a desperate craving to do it again.

Since they can't get drunk legally, hookah joints give underage students something stupid to do in the place of drinking.

Why don't you try doing something else once a month, like pounding nails into your face.

Many others here may not have noticed but I appreciate that you've matured as a poster.

It's extremely stupid. When I heard about it, I was like... "Wut..."

This...

Why don't you just get drunk or do something illegal like cocaine?

I'm honored. Truly, I am.

😕

Ever look into how much nicotine you can get out of a hookah? I'd be surprised if two hours of smoking ARGILAH (who the fuck decided to start calling them hookahs? everyone always thinks I want a hooker) gave you the same amount of nicotine as one cigarette puff.

Then again, smoking argilah like trendy white kids do for hours on end in lieu of wasting time in a Starbucks means way more inhaled smoke and carcinogens than a Marlboro man of the most immense testicular fortitude.

Ditch the habit. It's not cool, and it's expensive. $10 for hookah at a hookah lounge? A roll of coals is $1. A hookah is $30. Tobacco is $10 a tin.

Last time me and friends smoked hookah(key lime wut) some drunk girl knocked it over and the cherry burnt a bigass spot on the carpet

Fun times...

Yes, it makes us feel big and old to blow smoke out of our mouths, although it's somewhat irrelevant to the question I posed in the thread.

I answered your question. You'd have to smoke a hookah for a week non-stop to get a cigarette's worth of nicotine out of it. If you're going to keep it up, at least save a lot of money and learn how to do it in the comfort of your own home.

Thanks for the answer! I posted after you posted, so I apologize for giving the impression of ignoring you. I don't actually pay for it; my friend owns a hookah.

I'd rather not get one myself. I'm thinking that would greatly increase the accessibility, and hookah has many more health risks associated with it than just nicotine addiction. Best to keep it to a very bare minimum.

Actually I read many sources saying that since the volume of smoke in hookah is so much greater, you actually are exposed to much more nicotine than a cigarette, in say, the time period of an hour.

Terrible information- the ammount of nicotine in hookah smoke is very high

"Hookah smoking sessions typically last 20 to 80 minutes, as opposed to the five to seven minutes taken for a cigarette smoking session. During this time, hookah smokers inhale as much smoke during that one session as a cigarette smoker would inhale consuming more than 100 cigarettes.

And while the water used to smoke hookah does absorb some of the nicotine that water pipe smokers inhale, the smokers are still exposed to a sufficient dose of nicotine, making hookah smoking ?at least as addictive as cigarette smoking.?

Additionally, the toxic substances in hookah, such as carbon monoxide, heavy metals, tar and other carcinogens, do not dissolve in the water pipe; in fact, hookah smokers inhale 36 times the tar and eight times the carbon monoxide that a cigarette smoker would inhale in one session. "

From here

I know that is not a reliable link,- I have better information on my work computer w/ studies comparing hookah smoke and cigs. You will get a significant amount of nicotine- much more than "1 puff from a cig".

However, doing it 1-2x a month, I doubt you'd run much risk of becoming dependent on it

I smoke about that often (and have done so for a while) and neither me nor my friends are addicted. Sheesha/Hookah/Nargila tobacco does have a a lot of nicotine in it, but nicotine is water-soluble, so I don't know how much that decreases the amount of nicotine in the smoke you inhale.

I had a hookah once and was not impressed. Sure it tasted nice, but there was no buzz. If I'm going to go around fucking up my lungs by inhaling burning plant matter, I want to get fucked up in the process.
