Strength Training

What is a good strength training regiment for total body workout. I started doing a lot of reps with less weight, and have moved to lower reps with more wieght. Where should i go from there? Should i go back to more reps, or continue to a max lift.
 
You've not specified rep ranges. If I were you I'd find a workout board like geekfitness.com, johnstonefitness.com, or forum.bodybuilding.com You'll get a lot of answers here and, based upon previous threads I've read, half of them will be nonsense and not helpful to you (basically rehashing crap people heard in gym class or from their dad or something).
 
Everybody advocates different things. The Max OT program I use calls for 4-6 reps per set, about 2-3 sets per excercise. Other people call 6-8 reps heavy. It all really depends. Try different programs, use the one that works for you.
 
there are a ton of variables you have to consider when asking a question like that. PM me with more details if you want advice. i work at a gym and used to train people. i personally do 6-8 reps per set (last set maybe 4-6) for 4-5 sets (until i feel relatively fatiqued) but it all depends on what exercises you are doing on what days and what your goals are.

Yeah, it all depends on your personal goals and body type. When going for all-out size and strength, you want heavy weights and fewer reps, targeted so something like 6-8 reps will deplete you. If you want more endurance and toning, train with the heavier weights until you get to the desired strength, then use the same (or slightly lighter) weights and work on increasing reps per set.
