I've always thought it would be cool to get an old shell of an arcade game, stick a PC in it with all the Mame ROMs and be able to play any game you want with the original controllers and stuff. Maybe some day...

I guess technically it's just the controllers you need to buy since you can make any old shell and use any old PC... hmm.

Talk to MAME about that, he built his own MAME machine.

Dude, google "mame cabinet" or something along those lines. MANY a people have done it. There are some waaaaaaaaay 😎 pics of cabinets out there.

I used to be one of the resident SF2 and Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 freaks. On a field trip at the Youth Fair one year, all I did was hang out at the arcade--I just kept playing MK and beating people. When I was done, I'd gone through a couple hundred rounds with dozens of people and won everything! It was fun beating the older teens back then. LOL.

Seriously guys, if you want some bad ass old school 2D fighting, get an XBox, XBox Live! and Capcom vs SNK 2:EO. You can play online with the world (however I'd limit it to your coutry due to the lag issues going cross continent) with your favorite old school characters. ALL the Street Fighter II characters PLUS the SNK characters. I usually end up playing for 2-4hours EASY. Not to mention you can listen to the other guy getting pissed off when you are slapping him around. 🙂

I have CvS2 on my ps2. Just want it to be playable online for my ps2. I am not going to get an xbox as I don't want to spend the £££ on it.

I pretty much have an XBox just to play that game online. 🙂 I might as well call it my Capcom vs SNK 2 machine... and it is worth every penny. 🙂

OH YA! Ok, I tested the Guile glitches on MAME32 v0.80 and THEY WORK! If you guys want some screen shots, let me know. This is what I have been able to do, get Guile to stand on one leg (pretty useless but he can't be swept), I've frozen the other character but I still have to work on unfreezing the character. If he is frozen when time runs out, you have to hard reset the game. Anyway, I thought it was cool that it worked on the emulator. This proves that MAME is accurate as hell in its emulation!

I remember when these guys used to claim Guile could do that. That and the Sheng Long thing were always whoppers to me, until I saw online that the Guile's hand cuffs trick was real!

oh man best fighting game ever

how many nights did I waste working as night shift mainframe operator, back when there wasn't much going on.. we'd play super sf II on snes emulators, battling each other over the network.
I became truly elite at SF II using a keyboard and emulator

Yeah, that Shen Long bullsh!t rumor went on forever! Finally someone disproved it. Other rumors went around too. But yeah, I always referred to the Guile freeze as "handcuffs." Someone tell me how to record in game video clips and I'll show it to you.

Guile is pretty much abusive. His sonic boom has no recovery time and his flash kick has ultimate priority and even when blocked, it recovers before they can attack.

How does Dhaslim touch that?
i'd say bite bit but u seeee, ryu and ken's move are the cheapest
fireball+dragon punch, then knee throw you. oh I hate that crap!!! alway gets beaten by a cheap mofu!
I can never land a hit! I was beaten in less then a min every freakin' time. i got fedup with this game, it alls about winning, and being as cheap as possible, their is no fair fights! a dude wanted to take me outside and do some real fighting! cuz i was kicking hiss ass

Guile counters the fireball. When Ken/Ryu throw a fireball, GUILE throws a sonic boom and Ken/Ryu will be open to a backhand. Easy shot. If you are playing Dhalsim with Ryu, I feel bad for you because you just waste a quarter by picking Ryu. 😉

No offense, but those people suck. Ken/Ryu aren't even that good in SF2.

oh also I wasn't aware of the guile glitch, but I rarely played it in arcades

one interesting SF2 arcade incident, I was at some cheap ass bowling alley in junior high school. They had an unmarked all white game cabinet with generic looking joypads. didn't know what it was until I looked, and it was Street Fighter II. However it was waaaaay f-ed up, using ryu or ken you could stop at any point in mid-air and throw a fireball. also there were tons of other glitches but thats what I remember most. I only spent a quarter on it and gave up. This was surely pre-emulator days (pre-www) so I'm guessing it was a pirated cabinet with a hacked up game rom

oh and as for ken/ryu not being good, I disagree. to each his own, I can beat sf2 with ken in like 10 minutes taking nary a hit

Ken was the supreme being in my book. Hehe. Know how to use that character like a mad man, and you can take pretty much anyone, especially when Super Street Fighter 2 came out.

indeed... 80% of my millions of hours on street fighter were put in super street fighter 2 .. and I say Ken was the strongest. Dee-Jay was my #2, M Bison #3

Against the computer Ken/Ryu ruled for one reason, the computer just arbitrarily jumps at you. Once you play human opponents, you quickly learn that you almost never jump towards your opponent. Once you stay on the ground their best move becomes worthless.

Dhalsim was pretty much god back in SF2 and Guile was better than Ken/Ryu because he had better and faster ground moves.

Ooooo...yeah, that is kinda far away. Maybe we can get some sponsors and fly you over here. 😉

Sounds good to me 😀

Man I SO rock at TTT and SFII and SFAII. SO can't wait until Sony and Capcom get their act together so I can play people on the net.

My problem is that I played SFII in the arcades only a few times and my control with the joystick aren't great and let me down. BUT my controls with the joypad are SWEET so that will help me out.

I use to play an insane amount and just 'practice' for the hell of it lol. www.tekkenzaibutsu.com (spelling maybe be dodgy 😛) is a good site for Tekken stuff and read up on the frame data 😀.

Didn't really get in to T4 or the DOA sries same with the VF series but they were fun. Just didn't get in to the indepth stuff like I did with Tekken.

Oh yeah my first son is going to be called Ryu. He is my fav character and SF the Movie (animaged Manga) is great.

Nah, if you're playing against someone with mad speed doing the Shouryuuken with the jab button, he could rip you a new one for any of Dhalism's extension kicks or punches. Using jabs and crouching short kicks to start off combos when he gets close or trap him in the corner, you could finish off great Dhalism players.

Yes, please direct questions towards me!

Also, buy an arcade cabinet from me!

Let me give you the key to beating a Ken/Ryu player in Street Fighter II. Throw a fireball, if they jump you can either kick him out of the air, or if is too late to throw a kick, wait 'til he is about to hit the ground and do a slide. Ken/Ryu have NO attack that can counter Dhalsim's slide when coming out of the air. If Ken/Ryu throw a fireball, slide underneath. If they get too close, there are stategies to get him away from you again.
