the main thing that i have found annoying as hell.
out of the 200 or so matches i've played online (randoms, not with friends)
i have yet to meet someone who picked a character first.
they all wait for me to pick, then more often than not
pick the counter to that person lol
why couldnt they make it a blind pick like ssf2hdremix?
 
Oh here is a tip, rather simple but something I think is important: Quick get ups are done by pressing down twice right before you are knocked down to the ground. Do not quick get up into your opponents throw.

I thought you had to hit down only once right before hitting the ground. Maybe I'm wrong.

You could be right! I'm used to tapping down twice from Third Strike to roll back when I got knocked down. I'll try it later tonight.
 
man i really need to get fadc consistantly
those extra hits you can get are free damage
you're not dishing out.

Why wouldn't it be made for japanese players? The 360 was selling like crazy for a while over there because of a swell of good JRPGs, and SF4 will be huge over there.

It's just down once, and this was explained in the game manual. I know nobody RTFM anymore but for a game like this I sure as hell did.
 
Hey question for those of you who got the Collectors Edition ..,.

Is the actual case that the game is held in any different than the standard edition? I got mine yesterday but haven't opened it yet.
 
Can't you also do a quick standup from a knockdown by hitting 2 kick buttons? I think it's 2.

I only tried one online match yesterday and yeah...I absolutely cannot play on a pad. I only bought the PS3 for Rock Band 2, blu ray playback and SF4. I've no familiarity with the dualshock (I'm a Nintendo guy) and I can't play on it worth shit. I played a Ryu yesterday and proceeded to eat fireballs the first round, then I beat him with nearly 90% health left second round and then reverted to utter noobness in the third round. sigh.

Anybody up for a few games tonight?
 
i cant get a ranked match to work, cant do quick match (it always says its full that somebody joined) and if i host i dont get anyone for like 5 minutes
player match is fine. i cant understand why this is broken?

and yea i didnt set match settings to anything weird, and the search mode is at "STABILITY"

icons are just that, icons to the left of your name
you can see it in the lobby, just to the left, the square
blank grey one is there right now. (that says SFIV)

I think I got my first icon when I won my first ranked match. I've only gotten one or two icons since then, but can't remember why.

If you just want to play some ranked matches, while in the main menu, press the right bumper (assuming you are on 360), and turn on request matchups (or whatever it's called). Then go into the Arcade mode and if everything works like it's supposed to, you'll never even be able to get past the first arcade matchup due to new challengers coming in constantly.
 
What the hell.. can someone tell me how to do "s.MP xx QCF+P" for Sakura's Challenge mode level 3? Dan blocks it every single time. I can't seem to bust out the QCF+P as fast this video at around 1:45 so he blocks it every time.

I don't think there's any trick to it except do it fast. Don't charge up the fireball. Tap punch so she doesn't charge.

No problem. Somebody over at SRK was complaining about not being able to join matches, so I gave him the same advice. He got mad because apparently he wants to start as Player 2, not Player 1, so he has no choice but to search and join matches. Turning on the fight request feature ensures you're always in the Player 1 spot since it's others that are challenging you.

What stick do you have? You may know this already, but if you have a stick, it's important to NOT ride the gate. Only go far enough so that the direction registers. Riding the gate just slows you down. Extra distance you have to travel.

some of the challenge combos are VERY hard. i'm like 2/3 done with the normal trial challenges.

so far i've had the most trouble with some of C Vipers level 4 ones.
