My old gen 5 ipod is starting to die, and I'm looking (not sure one even exists) for a portable player that can stream music from Windows Home Server (either DLNA or windows media connect)

I know several devices can stream the media themselves, but I want one that accepts incoming streams over wifi

I'm not sure if the zune can do this or not, but it would seem the logical candidate not been able to find any information on it, everyone seems to want to use the zune to share to devices like the xbox 360

Not concerned with DRM support, I wont buy any drm laced tracks

Thanks for the reply.

looking at that it seems to only support software like winamp and itunes, I'm looking to avoid that, as it is I can use orb and it will stream to my win mobile phone I want to use the built in sharing and just have a player that natively accepts the transfer, preferably not in a phone though.

Might just have to use the onboard storage butI'ld like to have full access to all my media rather than XX gigs fof onboard storage

plus the fact IMO the touch is a bit overpriced but thats just me, if I were to get another ipod it'd be a classic, and of coruse that cuts out any streaming possiblities.

I'm surprised there arent any players (that I know of) that support DLNA

DLNA doesn't seem to be terribly popular. I ran into issues finding a good Mac compatible DLNA client for streaming to the PS3, there is really only one option available thats any good.

Is DLNA the only option for WHS?

No Windows Media Connect is the other option

the DLNA works great from WHS to PS3

the new creative zen x-fi 16 and 32 gb models can stream audio and video via wifi but you need to sue their software as far as i know. i haven't tried any streaming yet but their software sucked at being a media manager/sync program the last i used it. it's been updated a few times since then so i shoudl check it out again and see if it's any better.
