There were so many videos in my PC and phone and I really wanted to stream them to TV.

I tried to use Plex, but it was really difficult for me to use.
So a friend of mine suggested me using ShareON and now I'm pretty satisfied with this app. It's so easy to use and no time consuming.

How do you stream your media?

I use Chromecast, sometimes with the AllCast app, but I've also used Plex before. Plex isn't too hard once you get past the setup. It's also on more devices and platforms than just about any other streaming solution. It reminds me a lot of Orb, which got bought up about a year ago.

Hold on, with Chromecast, you can send YT videos or whatever media from your computer or phone or tablet to your TV?

Is that right? Never quite understood the concept.

Yes. Anything with the Chromecast plugin (available on desktop on Chrome/Chromium) or apps with Chromecast integration on mobile devices can send stream it ("cast" it) media to the Chromecast, which can be plugged into any HDMI equipped television or receiver. Cheap and easy way to stream media to your TV.

Not all apps support Chromecast, but an increasing number do including YouTube, and now there is mirroring so that you can mirror your smartphone screen onto your television.

For sending local media (on a computer) to the Chromecast, best thing I've used is a Chrome extension called VideoStream. You just select your local media and it plays on the CC, simple and to the point. They also have an app for mobile so you can use your device as a remote.

I use Plex almost exclusively and it has replaced my home media PC for the most part. I like plex since it can cast to both my chromecasts (living room and bedrooom) along /w my tablet and phones.

I like Plex the most as it can auto load subtitles for me also since I have a 2 year old and his nap time is our movie time but it can't be crazy loud :)

Plex server, the $5 Plex android app, and a $35 Chromecast is an awesome setup for local video files. The app takes the PC out of the loop and lets it act as the server only. Your tablet or phone becomes the controller, making it as easy as streaming Netflix on the Chromecast. Having to use a PC to play/pause/browse hurts usability and convenience. The app is well worth the $5.

I use it a few times a week (sometimes almost daily) and I'm continually impressed with how well it all comes together. It'll play the theme song from many TV shows when browsing and give episode descriptions that pop up on the TV so other people in the room can read it too. Same way with movie descriptions. It makes for a polished experience.

I can't remember any issues or difficulties setting it up though. It's a simple process designating media locations on the server side and then getting the app looking at your server. I'm not sure what OP's troubles would be.
