Streaming Audio Recording Software

I'm looking for an app that run similarly to the small Mac app "WireTap." This little app basically has a record, stop, and play button on it and will record any sounds the computer is generating or are streaming.

hmmm... something like Total Recorder? Mind you, it's not freeware.

If you have the full version of Nero or Easy CD/DVD or Media Creator they have recorder applications built in. Soundblaster cards also have a recorder application included.

I'm just trying to get short audio segments from Classic TV commercials I have from http://www.archive.org for my DVD Interfaces class. This would be the easiest way to do it.
