Because of licensing issues, that program was "illegal" to use. I don't know why a newer version has been made available since 3/11/03, unless I missed some news about it. At any rate, it's a program that basically "records" streams. All you have to do is enter the URL for the stream and hit the > button and it saves it to any location you want. Not only does it work for .ram/.rm, it works for streaming .asf and .wmv among others.

If it's legal (and free)... it's a MUST HAVE.

This program is awesome. It also captures streaming Windows Media files (both audio and video) and can be used as a general download manager. I love it.

It doesn't look like a newer version. It's just a collection of everything up to 1.0 Beta 3.1. Also, I compared my good old 1.0 beta 3.1 to the "turbo" version included in this new installer package, and 4 characters in the file differ :) I don't think it's actually a different version.

Thanks for the FYI then... saved me "install/test" time.
Question is... is it still illegal ?

It was illegal for them to develop this program because back then and even more illegal now (DMCA). However, it seems legal to use it unless a Web site specifically forbids you to save their streaming content. And even then, who gives a flying Pickachoo :D
