Stream video to ipad

I've got my direct tv box running to my htpc (win 7), which has an mpg2 encoder in it. I'd like to be able to stream to my ipad. I've lost hope in orb live working well. I've given up on it for streaming music and videos on my server, but not sure if there's an option software-wise to replace it.

not sure if this is the right place to ask as it is somewhat cross platform.

Have you tried AirVideo? That's what I use, and typically it works really well.

AirVideo is great for stuff that's already in files on the PC, but if I read the OP right you want to stream your live TV to your ipad via your HTPC? I don't think airvideo can do that, but I'm actually not sure.

Guess I misread. I thought he just had recorded shows in MPG format from his Dish.

I am using airvideo for "recorded" vids, am looking into tversity. Would prefer not to have to buy something else like a slingbox and use what I have.

airvideo owns. it is by far the best for 3G AND wifi. streamtome is not as good at dealing with bwidth challenges without buffering too much
