Stream MPGs over LAN

I use my main desktop to record TV programs using an ATI All In Wonder and I want to be able to watch them on my laptop in another room. If I use Windows Media Player, it wants to download the whole MPG file before it plays it. I want to be able to stream the MPG file over the LAN and watch it at the same time similar to how Quicktime buffers MOV files from the Internet. Is there a way or a media player that would allow me to do this? Thanks!
