I like slicing up fresh ones, sprinkling some sugar on them and sealing in a refridgerated container for at least 12 (24 is best) hours. Then I slice a piece of pound cake, top with some strawberries and big helping on Cool Whip. Then layer on another piece of pound cake, more strawberries and more Cool Whip. Then I sprinkle a little bit of cocoa powder over it all and garnish with a sprig of mint if you have some on hand.

Doesn't sound too bad, except for the "Cool Whip" part. I hate that crap. Give me fresh made whipped cream instead.

I'm surrounded by straqwberry fields here. Probably 10 of them within a 5-6 mile radius. $6-$7 for half a flat (6 quarts) WE buy one eery week.
My wife makes home-made biscuits, and home-made whipped cream, slices/mashes the berries with a little sugar syrup (if they need the extra sweet) ...mmm-mm-mmm-mmmmmm!

We also enjoy them in a home-made pie, in a tart, or dipped in sugar...I LOVE strawberry season! (runs from mid-april to October here)

YES. That is how you do it. 😀
That does sound damn good! I'm thinking I will be swinging by the grocery store on the ride home tonight to pick up cool whip and pound cake. 🙂

Very cheap dish to make, yet it makes people think you know your stuff. I normally just pick up one of those small, loafs of pound cake that are premade in the deli section of your local grocery store. If you're wanting to cut some fat, you can use fat free whipped topping. The key to this dish though is letting your sliced strawberries soak up the sugar in the fridge for an extended period of time. THe longer, the better because they'll start to break down some in the sugar and ooze all over your poundcake. DEEEElicious!

I cut up the strawberries last night and tossed them in a bag with a healthy (or is that unhealthy) amount of sugar. Hitting the grocery store after work (for real this time 😉) to get the pound cake/whip cream. Can't wait!

I also remembered another thing I love to do with fresh strawberries is toss them in yogurt. So original I know but its a nice change, with the fresh berries, compared with the packaged fruit yogurts.
Also tossed some strawberries in my cottage cheese last night. Not as good as raspberries as they ooze more, but still damn good 😀.
