I play both and there is no comparison..

a player with a KB/M will flat out pwn even the best player using a console controller.. the precision is much better.. as is the speed.

That may be true to a large degree, but that's not the point is it? We aren't even talking about playing multiplayer here. Also, the controller vs KB/M debate is completely meaningless anyway when there isn't even a mix of control types in multiplayer. I play both as well and have no problems either way. If I ever play a game that mixes types I'll likely choose KB/M, but otherwise, I see no point in even discussing the issue.

Seconded.

I used to avoid console FPSes completely but I learned to use the controller. No one with experience using both would argue that the KB/M wouldn't be more effective head-to-head. However, if you limit yourself to only one form of control or the other, you're going to miss out on a lot of great games.

Played it tonight - it's a lot of fun. It has pros and cons relative to Max Payne and MP2 (which it is clearly modeled on), but I love some of the new additions. The "Tequila Time" and precision aiming do a lot to eliminate the disadvantages of aiming with a gamepad IMO.

In regard to the topic touched on above (the cost of keeping current on PCs), I am definitely a "reformed" PC gamer - I have an Athlon 64 PC which works fine for everything I need (though I very seldom turn it on - I almost always use my MacBook nowadays), and I can't imagine shelling out the cost of a proper gaming PC for the privilege of gaming in an office chair rather than on my 50" TV with thundering 5.1 surround sound, from the comfort of my couch.

Definitely a great demo. I wasn't expecting anything from this game, and now it may be a purchase from me (we'll see, anyway). The only thing I didn't like that when walking slowly instead of running, and you walked against a table, he'd still do his slide across it, even though he had no momentum whatsoever. It kind of detracted from the gameplay for me, but overall not that big of a deal.

The 5 minute trailer at the end was pretty well done, too. :)

I surely wasn't expecting it to be any good. I was surprised at how I was interested in the story from the very start. Lone cop who had the balls to take on a supposed suicide mission to save a fellow officer while his pussy cop friends all cowered in the corner :). Made me care to see what happens. After the demo, I'm still interested to see what happens.

I've got to admit: it lives up to the hype. The story grabs you hard, and the action is just phenomenal. The gameplay feels varied, too - I like the face-off sequences, even if I suck at them.

I do think, though, that it feels a lot like a next-gen Max Payne. That's a good thing!

Thirded...I'm in the same boat. Used to avoid console FPS titles...but ever since getting the 360, I've learned to use the controller and now have no issues playing with the controller. I really prefer it now...not because it is a superior interface, but because I can sit back on my couch with a light, wireless device and enjoy a game of whatever. Keyboard and mouse is a lot more clumsy in such a situation.

I'm not gonna lie.....that was my first one :D

 I enjoyed the neck shot as well.

Did anyone else find it difficult to highlight and use some of the special interactive objects, most notably the railings? There were a few times when I wanted to jump up on a nearby railing but had trouble getting the highlighting to show up.

Definitely. I generally found the movement a little spastic - it was funny how much cooler Chow-Yun Fat looked during the cutscenes, casually lighting a cigarette, than when I had him frantically diving from side to side, sliding over every surface, and crashing through wooden boxes.

I recall reading somewhere that this is the highest-budget game ever made - if that's true, it seems to me the models look a little cruddy, particularly during cutscene dialogue.

This game looks horrible from all the videos/screens. I heard from another board it is filled with corny sliders all throughout the game, any time you lean against anything go go sliding like on rails.

I thought it looked pretty good.

But yeah, you will slide if you push against a table. It isn't as bad as you make it sound. Most of the game is actually spent diving around and going into "Tequila Time" (read Max Payne slo-mo) to get your shots but there is alot of extra stuff that makes it a blast to play.

I was actually pleasantly surprised. I didn't expect anything from this game.

I guess that's the best way though, eh? Go into a game with no expectations and it truly has to suck for you to be disappointed....Fatal Inertia.

Ya, the sliding seemed a bit ridiculous at first, but you get used to it. Atleast you don't have to walk around the freaking ton of objects in the game, you can just slide across. I think the main problem people have with the sliding is that it's not based on momentum whatsoever, so it looks extremely fake. IMO, if that's the only thing people can complain about, then the rest of the game must be pretty good.

I agree about the sliding. It is too over the top since you just bump into a table and shoot across it. If they made it where you just used the L trigger, like on all the other stuff, that would have been better I think.

I found it fun to push up on a wall and jump off it backwards while shooting at the guy. Did that on accident the first time and it worked well.

I wonder why they have rumble turned off by default in the options.

Speaking of the PS3 build, Stranglehold has been delayed again for the PS3. It was originally pushed back to the 17th. But now, no date is given.

It looks like the Xbox 360 and PC release of Strangehold will be on schedule, but the PS3 release has been delayed. Dutch website PS3 Only has received news from Midway that the delay is something that will definitely happen. At this point, we have no clue when the PS3 release of the game will actually happen. Midway says that the game will release this year, but not in September as planned for the Sony PS3.

D'oh!

edit: Not delayed. that was quick.

Unsubstantiated rumors (i.e. no one decided to ask Midway) this morning suggested Stranglehold for the PlayStation 3, which is already releasing a few weeks after its Xbox 360 and PC counterparts, would be missing its September release date completely and moving to an unspecified launch window. Obviously, given the game's based on the Unreal Engine 3, many started trying to "connect the dots," given the engine's trouble on the platform.

1UP asked Midway what the deal was -- but there's nothing to report. Midway's European public relations counterparts simply forgot to attach a release date in a news blast about Stranglehold and the Internet ran with it. As of today, Stranglehold for PS3 is still on track for its previously announced September 17th release.

It appears my first thoughts on this game are right on..this game is shit. I couldn't bare to play it all the way through one time..it was so ridiculous. If this is how this guy's movies are I am glad I haven't ever watched one. This is hand's down one of the worst games I have played on the 360 by far.[/opinion]

glad they released the demo. will try it when i get home from work tonight.

i was on the fence on this game, but if it is as good as people are saying i will buy it.

it looks like like Max Payne; i hope it's that good.
