The screw off part allows access to a battery, but that's it.

I have one of these flashlights and thought it was impossible to take the front bezel off, cool.

On the subject of expansion of water freezing, I once saw this experiment where a small metal bottle about the size of a grenade and almost 1/2 thick was filled with water. It was capped air tight with a bolt and dropped in liquid nitrogen to freeze the water inside. Within 5 seconds the metal bottle exploded into 3 pieces.
