Is this a raging debate among homeowners? I think the poll options are self-explanatory.

If the trash can is left out (like on pick up day) and someone decides to throw their poop bag in there, I'm all for it (better than having them not pick it up and running it over with a lawn mower)

I have seen other people's dog poopie bags in my trash. I was annoyed at first but figured that was better than dog shit on the sidewalk or treelawn. I consider it a small price to pay, making it easier for the assholes looking for an excuse to be lazy about picking up their animal's shit.

As long as it is bagged what is the problem? A trash can is a trash can people should just be happy I picked it up at all when everybody else would just leave the shit in my yard. I assume we are talking about the night before trash pickup when everybody just has their can sitting on the curb and it is getting picked up in the morning anyway. Walking up into somebodies yard to throw something into their can ain't cool.

If the poop is bagged up and my garbage can is at the curb I'm perfectly fine with it.
If I find a strangers dog poop in my kitchen garbage...then that's not fine. that's REALLY not cool.

If the poop is not bagged and just sitting in the trash, I'd probably be weirded out by the thought of a dog squating over my garbage can dropping a duece.

Guilty as charged. If the trash can is on the street and readily available I'm using it.

(I assume we mean poop bags)

Fuck that noise. Not a dog owner and hell no. Would you want me to put my sons diapers full of shit in your trashcan? Didn't think so.

I live in an urban area and do this all the time when walking my pup. As long as the trashcan is right next to the sidewalk or on the sidewalk I go for it. It's just a small bag. Dumping any larger amounts of trash in someone's can is a no-no obviously. But dog poop on the go is ok

Is someone taking their dog poop and carrying it up to your house, into your garage to find the can, or going through the gates to your backyard and depositing it? That's a no-no.

Or are your trash cans on the curb to be picked up that day? Anyone who has a problem with that should be dragged behind a moving vehicle with chains tied around their ankles.

The person picked up the dog poop with their hands and walked up your driveway and sidewalk, rang the bell, and when you answered, held out the poop in his hands and then asked if he could throw it away in your garbage.

I got so tired of this I finally put up a "No Dog Poop" sign under my "No Soliciting" sign.

Trash can is empty from being emptied while you were at work. Come home to it, multiple poop bags alone in the can. Now it will stew in there for another few days.

Voted for the last option with same caveat as many here. If my bin is on the street knock yourself out. If my bin is where it is any other time, behind my fence, not ok.

I'd be fine with that, although I would question why you were changing your kids nappy in my drive!

Hate dogs, and I'd be mildly irritated, but if it were bagged, it's not a huge deal. I wish more people used trashcans.

I read that as "Stranger poops in your trash can." I was gonna say I'd be like "heck, i'm not even mad. That is amazing."

But as for bags of dog poop in the trash can, unless it's excessive and taking up space, I'm all for it as they actually picked up their dogs crap.

My opinion, if your can is publicly accessible, then you run the risk of poop in your can. Currently I am in a 4 unit condo building and we have a locked dumpster.

If your trash can is easily accessible and public, then I might toss my poop in it (bagged). I'm not going to walk up to someone's house though if the can is further up the property.

Please use my trash can for your pupper poop.

The only issue I've had is a neighbor putting about 5 tons of drywall scraps in my trash can. Dude said he thought I wouldn't mind. I realized he was right and told him to just make sure it was wheeled out in time. He said that was the plan. True story.

Better than in your lawn or on your sidewalk so even if you don't think it is OK think about it as the lesser of two evils.

In general I don't care, as long as they actually put it in a bag and don't just have it loose. I rather see people who pickup their dog's poop in first place than that don't. Going for walks right now is crazy, so many land mines in the snow and ice. Our weather has been ridiculous with the freeze/melt cycles latetly so not only do you have to walk on jagged ice and uneven terrain but also have to dodge all the dog poop.

If you were pushing your son in a stroller and had to change his shitty diaper in front of my house while my garbage can was waiting to be picked up I wouldn't mind one bit. It's a can.... for garbage... waiting to be picked up by the people that take said garbage away... Why would I prefer you and your son walk around with a shitty diaper versus using my garbage can that is right there? I'm an asshole but I'm not that big of an asshole.
