have two computers cabled up for a network.the pc is the server and the laptop is on the other end. the server can open
all url,s. but on the laptop certain url,s willnot open. namely ebay and a couple of dress designers url,s. tried three
different network cards on the laptop. no difference. we use DSL connection for the internet. any help appreciated. slyedog
 
More info please, os on the laptop, can you ping the sites, do the names resolve on the laptop, can you view them by IP address?
 
know very little abt networking. running win xp pro on both machines.when i put the url in, it just spins until it times out
 
ok try this:

i don't think it is an dns problem if you can view other sites. but maybe i'm wrong.

the site may not be up and running. to find out, try the following:
first click start, run, and type "cmd"
type "ping www.TheNameOfTheUrl.com" w/o the quotes
if it says "0% loss", then the webserver for that url is up and running. no problem there.

otherwise i don't have a clue... good luck!
