Strange Wireless Connection Problem

OK, I've got a Linksys WRT54GS v.1.1. My laptop is a Thinkpad with a Intel(R) PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter. Driver is current, using Windows to manage the connection. NetStubmler says I'm the only network in range on this channel, signal strength is always excellent.

When I try to download a file over 20 megs, the connection will drop before the file completes. This happens with any file, IE or Firefox.

It only happens at home when I'm connected to my router. (At school, it doesn't happen)
It only happens when connected to the router via WiFi (wired works fine)
It happened with both the old and new Linksys firmware.
It pretty much only happens when I'm trying to download a large file (everyone gets an occasional drop, but it happens every time with the file download)

Any ideas? It's really, really annoying.

I had a similar issue about with my Linksys BEFW11S4 ver 4 router trying to download
large game demos until a firmware update fixed it. Going by memory, this was well over
a year ago. My guess is that it is something that needs to be fixed with a firmware
update by Linksys.

change your channel to 1, 6 or 11.

The router has nothing to do with the size of your download. I think you're just having interference somewhere.

doing this simple step solves most all wireless performance/coverage problems.

Same thing happens on all 3. 1 and 11 I'm the only person, 6 there are a dozen other networks (lowers my signal strength). I've tried all 3, same thing happens.

I replicated the error, and got one event in the Application Log

Category (52)
Event ID 4354
The COM+ Event System failed to fire the ConnectionMadeNoQOCInfo method on subscription {A82F0E80-1305-400C-BA56-375AE04264A1}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{
0000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}. The subscriber returned HRESULT 80004001.

any more ideas?
